Students use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others.

Develop cultural understanding and global awareness by engaging with learners of other cultures.

Essential Question:
Are the plans to settle Mars worth the money and risk to human life?(Be prepared to defend your answer!)


  1. Watch the video as a whole class.
  2. In pairs - use iPads to watch the video assigned to your group. UseExplain Everything to record and submit 5 new facts you have learned about travel to Mars. Answers must include vocabulary used in video clips.       
  3. Open the app BE A MARTIAN > go to SEE > go to ANIMATIONS >Watch NASA: Mars Evolution.  In your small group identify 3 similarities to earth.
  4. Exit Ticket: Please turn in a written response to the question, "Would you be willing to visit Mars in when you are 35 years old? Why or why not?" You must have a 3-5 sentence response for your team that references information you learned during this lesson.
